Augmentin is a two-part antibiotic: amoxicillin together with clavulanic acid, an inhibitor that shields the penicillin from the beta-lactamase enzymes many bacteria use to destroy it. That protection is what gives the combination a wider reach than amoxicillin on its own.
Intas produces it as Megamentin. The 625 mg presentation breaks down as 500 mg of amoxicillin plus 125 mg of clavulanate, six capsules to the strip. Intas is one of the larger Indian pharmaceutical companies and packs it as an ordinary pharmacy blister.
