Furosemide is a loop diuretic. It acts on the ascending limb of the loop of Henle, blocking sodium and chloride reabsorption so that water follows them out of the body, a fast and forceful mechanism quite unlike the gentler thiazides. In medicine it is used for oedema arising from cardiac, hepatic or renal conditions.
This pack holds fifteen tablets of 40 mg. Because the drug moves electrolytes along with water, potassium and sodium balance is the standard clinical concern attached to it.
